«Yesterday» is an audio-montage of the Beatles song with the same name. The montage – audible via headphones – represents a medley where each word of the song’s lyrics was replaced by a sample of another band, singing the same word in a random song. The piece is a rhythmical chaotic composite of short musical fragments, that are only held together by the lyrics.
The framed text is a list of all bands and the songs from where I used the corresponding word. The work is about recognition and conventions in popular music.
