The the video «Der Lack ist ab» – maybe best translated in «The bloom is Off the Rose» (as the German title is also an idiom) – shows time lapses of lacquer varnished surfaces that were treated with a chemical paint remover. The selection of colours corresponds to the colour range of a popular German DIY store.
The idea for the work was a reaction to the exhibition space – Maximiliansforum München – where the video was installed.
